You’re already the lucky type that just refuses to live one the safe side of the home scale like everyone else on the block if you have a log home. A cabin style log home has a cozy, comfortable and inviting feel to it. If you’re having trouble with the interior of your cabin you’ll get perfect tips and ideas in turning your cabin into the most appealing, relaxing and unique possible cabin you can have.

Remember rustic and rugged when you decorate your cabin. These two words will help you in choosing the perfect accessories and furnishings for an appealing home.

Rule number one – break the rules!

Most people think that it’s necessary to have old accents and furnishings when decorating a cabin or log home. While you’re doing a great thing by adding the things you love, adding trendy, modern pieces as well will make for a room that is both comfortable and stylish.

Remember to keep the color theme and basic style you’re using in mind when picking out new accents or furnishings, that way the place will look pulled together when completed.

Warm colors rule

Log homes or cabins usually have a lived in, comfortable and inviting feel to them. When it comes to the atmosphere of the room color plays a really large role, so you want to choose warm and rich colors. Most cabins have wood floors, walls and ceilings. Take up the colors found in the wood; is the wood more on the golden or yellow side, or does it have red undertones? In order to get the best look possible you should choose your colors based on these tones.

Today, lots of people are literally going green. You can really make a room look appealing by using shades of moss, sage, olive and sea foam and blending them with mauve, cream, rust and gold.

Mix it up

You don’t need to fear mixing it up a bit when decorating your cabin. Using contrasting colors and patterns can add more interest and depth to the room, giving it some more texture. Search for pillows, quilts, blankets, curtains and fabrics in furnishings that will help complement and blend the room’s entire feel. Just as long as you keep the same color scheme, don’t be afraid of mixing stripes and florals. You basically want to stick with three colors and one of them must dominate the other two.

In almost all styles of decorating too much clutter is simply too much clutter and nothing else. Use only accessories that you love and work perfectly with your decorating theme in order to open up the room and avoid making them look messy. When it comes to the walls, a single large landscape portrait is the perfect addition, and the room itself can benefit from large bouquets of flowers that add splashes of color. If it looks woodsy and rugged, it most likely fits into the log cabin style of decorating.

If you just mix up the old and new and put these tips to work you’ll definitely be able to put together an inviting and beautiful home.
